Kaplan - Salesforce Engineering Manager - Project Management (10-15 yrs) (Kaplan)

The Engineering Manager to drive the engineering practices within Kaplan Higher Education's engineering team. In this role, you will be a key component in growing the team and guiding software development to successfully scale, as our business grows. As a leader on the team, you will be charged with solving complex technology problems in an agile environment, constantly learning, and adapting to rapidly evolving customer needs.

Responsibilities :

- Manage a team of software engineers to architect, design, build and test enterprise software applications

- Ensure that the Kaplan software development lifecycle processes are followed, and where appropriate contribute to improvement of those processes.

- Participate in backend engineering technology architecture discussions for product development and advocate better backend development practices (CI, testing, operational efficiency, etc.)

- Work with the Executive Director, other development managers, and diverse teams including business analysts, database and UI specialists, and offshore developers in order to get work done efficiently.

- Work with appropriate technology teams including the offshore team in analysis, troubleshooting, communication, and prioritization of system-related issues.

- Grow the technical expertise of your team around quality, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance using state of the art tools.

- Develop and leverage KPIs to improve technology and business processes, procedures, etc.

- Support the delivery of working software through QA and into production environments, including recommending appropriate practices to ensure success in those environments and satisfactorily documenting the process and the deliverables.

- Some projects will require unusual working hours including late nights and weekends, because of the need to do things without disrupting the business.

- Some projects will require "crunch" efforts of unusual extra hours because of the nature of complex software development.

Education & Experience : Bachelor's or master's Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other

Years of experience : 10+ years

Requirements :

- Professional software development for websites using Salesforce. Must have 2 or more years of specific Salesforce experience.

- Should include leadership roles in larger projects.

- Extensive knowledge of systems architecture for web-based business systems.

- Strong skills in the use of software tools to develop business programs.

- Experience in the Salesforce ecosystem is strongly preferred; other modern object-oriented IDE environments in addition is a plus.

- Considerable experience and aptitude in the creation of enterprise business software.

- Ability to work well with and to lead people and quickly learn new concepts.

- Able to apply a rich variety of software engineering principles, theories and concepts.

- Familiar with a broad range of software algorithms and terminology.

- Experience with service-oriented design including common patterns, interfaces, and inheritance

- Ability to stay focused and detail-oriented in a fast-paced dynamic environment, and to coach others.

- Current knowledge of cloud technologies

- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
